Investing Our Time In Something Worthwhile

I recently came across a video by a man named Sadguru. I could explain the whole thing, but it might be better to let you watch it yourself and hear it from him! It’s not even a minute long and right below:

Watching this hit me hard. For the past few months, I’ve found myself slowly slipping into some kind of darkness concerning work. I have a desk job that has me sitting in front of a screen for around 40 hours a week and it has lately left me feeling completely drained and unfulfilled. Don’t get me wrong, the job is great! I love the company along with those I work with, it has just begun to take its toll on me as I’ve noticed so much time going to something I’m not so passionate about. And it makes me question: Am I really making a difference? Anyone else out there in a similar boat? Or felt that?

Sadguru goes straight to the point when he asks us to think about our future and what will be worthwhile for us. That is what we should be investing our time in.

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. I’ve been asking myself questions lately such as what skills I can develop to be the best I can for my kids. From there, I know I need to make plans and put them into action as to how I will do this. Some of these plans include trying new recipes and perfecting old ones so I can improve my cooking skills. I also try to set some time aside each day to make sure I am learning a variety of things that peak my interest. I want to have a good education and strong faith so I can teach my kids some of the things I believe to be the most valuable in life. As you can see, just these couple of things can take up some time. The “investing” that Sadguru mentioned comes to play now. It’s good to trust that even though we can’t see the outcome of what we’re sacrificing our time to now will be exactly, it will create something bigger and better.

What’s worth your time? Is it developing a skill or strengthening a relationship? Maybe it’s finishing a project or making sure you’re taking care of yourself. What plans do you have to invest into it?
